The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is here for the devoted Mercedes-Benz owners who are prepared to embrace the electric future and have the financial means to do so. The crossover version of Mercedes-Benz’s EQS luxury electric car, the large EQS SUV was unveiled in 2023.

Especially considering how much more forceful the EQS580 4Matic variants are.

Electric vehicle motor performance, power
Though not the same, the EQS SUV’s electric drivetrains are similar to those of the EQS sedan and it has a higher seating position and larger interior space. 335 horsepower is the power behind the wheels of the EQS450+ electric vehicle.
With its front and rear electric motors fitted for all-wheel drive, the EQS580 generates 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque. Remarkably nimble rear-axle steering and an adjustable air suspension are standard on the EQS SUV.
When in Off-Road drive mode, the SUV elevates the suspension and modifies the behavior of the powertrain, in contrast to the sedan. We were amazed by the vehicle’s capabilities during a ride-along in a prototype model, even though we are confident that most individuals who purchase an EQS SUV will never attempt such activities. At our test track, we saw substantially sharper acceleration from the EQS580 during our first test drive of the production vehicle, with a time of 4.0 seconds to 60 mph. Not to be outdone, the EQS450 4Matic we tested reached 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Most drivers should find it to have more than enough power, in our opinion.
We are content with the EQS SUV’s on-road manner because it is comfortable and relaxing, considering its luxury objective. Handling is confident but not very satisfying, and steering feedback is modest.
Battery Life, Charging Capacity, and Range
The estimated driving range of the EQS SUV isn’t quite as great as that of the EQS sedan, despite using the same 107.8-kWh battery pack. While the all-wheel-drive EQS450 4Matic and EQS580 4Matic provide about 285 miles of driving before requiring a plug, the entry-level EQS450+ model boasts a claimed range of 305 miles per charge.

Fortunately, Mercedes claims that the EQS SUV can charge at up to 200 kW, which can cover the battery’s range from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes when used with a suitable DC fast charger. The EQS450 4Matic and the EQS580 4Matic we tested both produced 290 miles of range on our 75 mph interstate fuel-economy test route.
Real-World MPGe & Fuel Efficiency
Depending on the powertrain setup, the EQS SUV series offers varying EPA ratings. The combined mileage rating of the EQS450+ is 85 mpg; the 4Matic all-wheel-drive version of the vehicle reduces this to 78 mpg.

Space, Cosiness, and Packing
Mercedes-Benz vehicles of today are distinguished by their luxurious interiors, which are found inside the EQS SUV. Selectable ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging are among the standard interior features. The 56-inch Hyper screen spans the whole width of the instrument panel.
