Retailers who purchased specific products may soon be receiving a sizable payout from a class action lawsuit against Walmart.
Walmart settled a $45 million class action lawsuit by weighing groceries.
More precisely, anyone who have bought specific items sold by weight, such as meat, chicken, pork, and fish (called “Weighted Goods”), as well as specific organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in large bags (called “Bagged Citrus”), may be qualified to submit a claim.
Recent claims that consumers who purchased these products paid more than the lowest in-store advertised price led to a settlement with Walmart.
While the business has refuted these accusations, it has consented to a settlement with consumers who bought the allegedly defective products between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024. However, this settlement is subject to court approval, which will be determined at a final hearing on June 12, 2024.
Oddly enough, minor claims don’t require evidence of purchase, despite the enormous $45 million settlement amount.
The quantity of qualified products purchased determines how much a consumer can recover. Depending on how much they purchased, purchasers who have the required receipts may be eligible to receive up to $500.
You have until June 5, 2024, to make a claim if you believe this relates to you and a purchase you have made. If accepted, you will earn a reward of $25 to $500.

Between January 2023 and January 2024, it had 4,717 stores overall; a year later, that number had dropped by 102.
After selling the two stores they controlled, Walmart sold 79 Moosejaw and Bonobos locations in total, in addition to the 23 closures. Just this week, the business said that the closures were made public through filings, following the announcement that its sales for the most recent quarter increased by 6% to $173 billion.
Despite the company’s declaration in January that it would open up to 150 new outlets in the next five years, these closures have occurred.
