Houston: Veteran defensive end Jonathan Greenard of the Texans made his way back to practice on Thursday. This might greatly improve the defense’s pass rush and prospects of competing against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday in the playoffs. The fourth-seeded Texans are scheduled to play Greenard against the Browns on Saturday in an AFC wild-card playoff game. While veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes was declared out, he was categorized as questionable.
According to a league source, Greenard sprained his ankle Grade 1 against the Browns on Christmas Eve. Joe Flacco of the Browns took advantage of his absence, throwing to wide receiver Amari Cooper for 11 receptions and a team single-game record 265 yards. With a career-high 12 1/2 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and 22 quarterback hits, Greenard leads the Texans in all three categories.
Noah Brown, a wide receiver, made a full recovery from a transverse process fracture in his back to resume practice. With an average of 17.2 yards per reception, Brown has caught 33 passes for 567 yards and two scores. He is seen as a last-minute pick and is dubious. Robert Woods, a veteran wide receiver for the Texans, was sidelined last Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts due to a painful hip injury.
He made a restricted comeback to practice on Wednesday. Woods was running and taking part in drills on Tuesday. He was a genuine game-time decision who tried to warm up before it was finally decided he couldn’t participate in the away game at Lucas Oil Stadium. He has been practicing for the last two days, and if warm-ups go well, he appears to be headed towards playing. He is marked as dubious. Woods has caught 40 catches for 426 yards and one score this season in 14 games and 11 starts.

Injury Report: Several Texans miss practice before their playoff game against the Browns.
For many NFL teams, the season was decided by major injuries. The Cleveland Browns refused to let their season be determined by all the serious injuries they had to cope with. Rather, the Browns continued to win despite losing key players, and they don’t need to be concerned about the outcomes of Week 18. They finished 11-6. Like every other team, the Houston Texans experienced a fair amount of injuries en route to winning the AFC South. While both clubs hope that injuries do not define the Wild Card game, several players were absent from Tuesday’s first practice of the week.
The following injuries are listed for the Browns :
OL Joel Bitonio (rest, oblique, knee) WR Amari Cooper (rest, heel) DE Myles Garrett (personal, shoulder, hamstring) Dustin Hopkins, hamstring (DNP); Kareem Hunt, RB (groin); Greg Newsome II, CB (knee), TE David Njoku: Knee, Rest; DNP; RB Pierre Strong – DNP • S – Back Juan Thornhill – DNP • WR – Calf Cedric Tillman – DNP • CB – Concussion Mike Ford – Limited – Calf WR Marquise Goodwin – Limited – Knee LB Jordan Kunaszyk – Limited – CalfDE Ogbo Okoronkwo (limited, pectoral, groin); OL Ethan Pocic (limited, shoulder, stinger); S D’Anthony Bell (full, back); P Corey Bojorquez (full, quad); QB Joe Flacco (full, calf); S Duron Harmon (full, ankle); DT Shelby Harris – Complete – ShinCB Denzel Ward – Complete Shoulder
This week, practice’s second day carries a little more weight than it did during the regular season when just the final day was significant. A few practice days before the season’s biggest game would be beneficial for many of the players listed above who did not practice today or not at all last week.
Texans Injury Report :
Will Anderson Jr., DE; Ankle, DNP; Wide Receiver Noah Brown-Returning – DNP • DT Hip – Maliek Collins – DNP • DE Ankle, Jonathan Greenard, DNP, DE Jerry Hughes – DNP – Ankle – DT Sheldon Rankins – DNP • WR – Shoulder DNP for Robert Woods’ hip; OL for Shaq Mason’s rest; OL for Laremy Tunsil’s rest; FB Andrew Beck – Limited – Calf – OL Michael Deiter – Limited Edition Elbow
Due to ankle and hip problems, the great bulk of Houston’s defensive line starters and rotation did not practice today. Observable as Tuesday transitions into Wednesday.
Playoff injury report for the Browns and Texans: Both teams’ lengthy list of DNPs for Tuesday
Injuries are still a worry for the Houston Texans as they get ready for their Wild Card game against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. Jonathan Greenard, the team’s leading sack man and defensive end, missed practice on Tuesday due to his ongoing recovery from an ankle injury sustained during the Week 16 loss to Cleveland on Christmas Eve.
Greenard missed the final two games of the regular season as Houston clinched its first division title since 2019. Other Texans injured were wide receivers Robert Woods (hip) and Noah Brown (back), defensive tackles Sheldon Rankins (shoulder) and Maliek Collins (hip), and defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Jerry Hughes (ankle).
While on the customary veteran rest day, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and offensive guard Shaq Mason participated in practice. As part of the regular game plan, both players should return on Wednesday. The ankle is still far from being healed, thus Anderson was only able to play 31 snaps in Saturday’s 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite just playing a few plays in the 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans, he made the most of his opportunity by recording two sacks. After being limited in the week coming up to the game, Collins and Rankins played at least 34 snaps on Saturday. Despite their short practice time on Wednesday and Thursday, neither should be worried about their status coming into Saturday’s playoff game.
The receiving room is where the most uncertainty exists. Before the team left on Thursday, Brown was declared out and Woods was listed as a late-game scratch before the game started. In their first primetime appearance, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and Nico Collins’ growing romance made headlines.
On Houston’s initial play, Stroud connected with the third-year pass-catcher for a 75-yard touchdown, making him the fifth rookie quarterback in league history to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. With nine catches on nine targets for a career-high 195 yards, Collins became the third Texan to reach 1,200 yards in a single season. Dalton Schultz is a tight end who has five receptions for 42 yards. A total of six catches and 27 yards were made by five additional Texans.
Collins may have been able to find gaps in Indianapolis’ secondary, but Cleveland’s top-ranked pass defense will make that impossible. Quarterback completion percentage is less than 57 percent, while opponents are averaging 164.7 yards per game. Playing in 14 games during the regular season, Woods now ranks third among active players with 40 receptions and 460 receiving yards. He has scored one touchdown so far this campaign. Michael Dieter (center) and Andrew Beck (fullback) both have hand and calf injuries.
