SMITE 2 REVEALED: UPDATES TO THE GAMEPLAY AND NEXT-GEN GRAPHICS

The third-person MOBA game SMITE, is poised to get a sequel which you can easily assume would be called SMITE 2. It’s not your average sequel, since it will bring about significant adjustments to the professional esports scene for the game. New worldwide LAN gatherings and the dissolution of the developer-owned team are examples of this.

A SHORT REVIEW OF SMITE 2

Titan Forged Games’ developers decided to experiment with the concept when Riot’s League of Legends, which swiftly rose to prominence as the top MOBA exported worldwide, was released. They did, however, take into account users who preferred the MOBA experience without the RTS viewpoint. That’s how the third-person competitive action game SMITE (which features over-the-shoulder fighting yet follows a MOBA format) was created.

After ten years, the creators released numerous upgrades with a tonne of fresh content. There are roughly 130 heroes with gods from prehistoric human pantheons as their central topic. Over these years, the firm has also often hosted esports competitions. But now it understands that a proper sequel is overdue. The significant announcement was made in Arlington, Texas, during the ongoing SMITE World Championship. Amidst the proceedings, SMITE 2 was revealed. It signifies a few adjustments to the esports landscape.A SHORT REVIEW OF SMITE 2

The TRANSITION TO UNREAL ENGINE 5 IS MARKED BY SMITE 2.

A LEGACY SYSTEM WILL BE IN PLACE TO ASSIST PLAYERS WHO INVESTED REAL MONEY.

The large-scale switch from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 5 will be the primary distinction between SMITE’s first and second versions. That will result in a major redesign of a few game mechanics. Furthermore, the developers are unable to transfer all of the users’ purchased paid cosmetics from one title to another due to technical issues. Nonetheless, a system called Legacy will be available to aid players in adjusting to the move. To receive the same quantity of premium currency for the sequel, will benefit those who made real money investments in SMITE.

The launch schedule is already set in stone: A beta test is scheduled to start in the autumn, after a spring alpha testing period that spans the entire summer. The exact release date is still pending. It will, however, take place at the end of this year.
In the meantime, 2024 will be a year of transition for the esports industry, which means that SMITE 2 will need to be adopted extremely quickly.

THE SMITE 2 CHANGES COMING TO ESPORTS

For those who don’t know, the developer-run SMITE Pro League Circuit serves as the focal point of the SMITE esports sector. Esports Charts states that the World Championship from last year had a peak viewership of 78,000. The SMITE Pro League sold out the Esports Stadium Arlington despite having a small fan base. There will be a lot of changes in SMITE 2. “During SMITE 2 alpha testing, the Founder Series will begin.” The specific start date is still to be determined, but we plan to launch this spring. SMITE 2 Executive Producer Alex Cantatore told Esports Insider.

SMITE 2’S EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, ALEX CANTATORE, STATED:

“We will conduct open, competitive online qualifying tournaments during alpha playtest weekends and during beta testing.” Teams who do their best in these competitions will be eligible for LAN Majors and related prizes. There will be a minimum of two LAN Majors in the first SMITE 2 Founders Series. There will be two locations: one in the United States and the other in Europe or the UL. After 2017, this will be the first competitive SMITE match to take place in Europe.

All SMITE Pro League teams were owned and run by developer Titan Forge Games for the previous two seasons. even taking up the burden of covering players’ salaries. This indicates that established esports companies have vanished from view. All players moved to Atlanta and competed from there as per the agreement.

There will be an open format with the upcoming SMITE 2. Players will be able to create teams with anybody they choose and play from wherever. The Overwatch League’s hardships will serve as a model for this concept. With this new model, teams will be able to look for sponsors and organizations of their choice, according to the competition circuit organizers. To support the emergence of a self-sustaining circuit, the organizers are abandoning this concept.

OVER THE ROAD TO A NEW GENERATION, THE CONSOLE MOBA

With over half of its player population on consoles, SMITE bills itself as the “Console MOBA” at the moment. Since only the most recent consoles support the Unreal Engine 5, SMITE 2 will be a next-generation game. One of the few esports games with controller optimizations and a value balance center is this one. This caused a decline in the number of people playing the game among those who enjoy more conventional MOBAs like League of Legends and Dota 2. A roster of fifty fresh and returning heroes that are as new and player-friendly as possible will be included in the SMITE 2 beta release.

In Smite, more than 40 million players have already attained godhood and engaged in combat.

It’s time for the upcoming Smite 2, a multiplayer online action battle arena (MOBA) that will be available on the PlayStation 5 and for which you can sign up for alpha testing right now. The official sequel to the smash game Smite, powered by the Unreal Engine 5, is called Smite 2. It possesses every noteworthy feature of Smite, including an extensive selection of playable gods drawn from all major global mythologies, a deep strategic system unique to MOBAs, and action-packed third-person battles found only in Smite.

Smite 2, however, elevates the action MOBA to a new plane thanks to player ingenuity, strategy, and godlike impact. Continue reading to find out how Smite 2 is altering MOBA gameplay.

MOBA STRATEGY MEETS ACTION BATTLE

Starting with action third-person combat that resembles your favorite hero shooter, Smite 2 adds the gratifying challenge and intricate strategy of multiplayer online battle arenas to its gameplay. In a 5v5 team combat in MOBAs, the Titan at the center of your base must be destroyed for the game to be lost. The map’s three lanes of minions, jungle monsters, and strong towers will try to hinder your progress as you fight towards the enemy’s Titan. By overcoming these challenges, you’ll gain experience points and gold that you may use to level up in that battle and acquire new skills and gear.

By immersing players in the action and switching to third-person combat, the original Smite transformed the MOBA genre. Action-adventure fighting became realistic with this change in perspective, including gods from many mythologies fighting on a large battlefield.

With Smite 2, the Titan Forge Games team sought to improve Smite in several areas:

Thanks to modifications made to ability animations and camera movements, players will now feel the effects of fighting. With stunning visual effects, every ability—from basic assaults to mind-blowing ultimates—has been revamped. To enhance combat readability, the UI’s appearance and technology have been significantly updated. Updates to character animations have made it possible to have more realistic-looking body movements without compromising combat’s snappiness. Haptic feedback is now available for the DualSense controller, which enhances the immersion even more.
