Features of the Mahindra Thar 5 door unveiled
This year marks the long-awaited release of the Mahindra Thar 5-door. We previously reported that the new SUV is not merely a conventional Thar with two extra doors.
There are also rumours that the Thar 5-door may receive the “Thar Armada” name upon debut. Many new features and modifications that will be included on the forthcoming Thar 5-door are revealed in recent spy photos.
The outside highlights of the Mahindra Thar 5-door
A new grille and bumper design with integrated fog lamps will be added to the Thar 5-door’s exterior. Top models will have fog lamps, side indicators mounted on the front fenders, and headlights made entirely of LEDs. Additionally, the taillights will be LED ones with a marginally different design from the Thar 3-door. Even if the test mules are appropriately hidden, we can make out the distinctively designed back door handles and the rear quarter glass’s shape, which is similar to the Thar EV concept.
Customers will be able to choose from a variety of wheel and tyre options. Higher-end models will come with 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while certain mid-range models will have to settle for alloy wheels that appear simpler. Sources claim that steel wheels will be fitted to entry-level trims instead. Additionally, the Thar 5-door will have a remote fuel-filling cap opening option and a rear wiper system, which are both much-needed additions to the Thar’s feature list and absent from the Thar 3-door.

Compared to the Thar-3 door, there are a lot of interior modifications and additions. First, depending on the version, the dashboard will offer single-tone and dual-tone options. In order to make room for a larger infotainment screen, the new Thar 5-door’s dashboard design has undergone some minor adjustments, particularly in the centre console. The instrument cluster appears to be the same as the one we’ve already seen on the XUV700, but the infotainment screen appears to be comparable to the one that will be used on the upcoming XUV300 facelift.

Mahindra is going to equip the Thar 5-door with disc brakes on the back wheels and six airbags, while the Thar 3-door will have drum brakes and dual front airbags.
It is also expected to be equipped with a dashcam and front parking sensors. ADAS and a 360-degree camera system for the Thar 5-door are not confirmed.
