Dutch Eurovision contestant, unclear about destiny

While organizers look into a backstage incident, the Dutch participant in the Eurovision contest will not be performing at Friday night’s dress rehearsal. The nature of the “incident” involving Joost Klein has not been disclosed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the organization that is in charge of the event.
Jurors from all over Europe observe the evening dress rehearsal to determine their scores for the grand final.

On Friday afternoon, during the first dress rehearsal for Saturday’s broadcast grand final, his suspension became evident.
A production manager told Klein that his props needed to be taken down as they were being set up on stage inside the Malmö Arena.

A statement was then released by the EBU stating that they were “investigating an incident that was reported to us involving the Dutch artist”.
Shortly before the start of the jury rehearsal, at 19:30 BST, or just after 20:30 CET, the statement was revised.
The statement said, “An inquiry into the event involving the Dutch performer in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is still ongoing.

by juries from each of the 37 participating countries, while the investigation is still ongoing. “His performance from Semi Final 2 will be used instead.”

Klein added, “Why not?” As she was informed by the moderator that the Israeli singer was not obliged to answer the question.

Following the moderator’s announcement that the Israeli singer was not required to answer the question, Klein jumped in and questioned, “Why not?”
