BMW will use the Super Bowl to promote its first electrified i5 vehicle.

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, BMW will make a comeback to the Super Bowl with a brand-new 60-second commercial promoting the all-new, iconic BMW 5 Series, which will be headlined by the first-ever all-electric BMW i5.

Christopher Walken Is Curious About the “Teaser” BMW Is Putting Up Before the Super Bowl

The 60-second commercial features Wilken’s instantly recognisable voice and distinctive speech pattern. It follows the actor as he goes about his regular day and runs across a never-ending parade of imitators, including his drive-through barista, hotel valet, tailor, and cosmetics artist. The mimics initially perplex Walken, who becomes more and more irritated. The final line of the ad is Walken asking USHER, “Don’t you have somewhere to be?” during a fortuitous rencontre. “Talkin’ Like Walken” will be aired during Super Bowl LVIII’s first quarter.

Walken stated, “It was a pleasure working with BMW; they are a great company and I think electric cars are important.” “I’m excited to share the work we completed together.”
“Performing at the Super Bowl is an incredible honour, and collaborating with BMW is a wonderful experience,” stated USHER. “I hope you all enjoy the commercial; it was a cool experience to make.”

The humorous campaign was made by Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P), BMW’s principal U.S. creative agency. Bryan Buckley, a director who has been nominated for two Academy Awards and is well-known for his work on nearly 70 Super Bowl ads, directed it. The photography was directed by renowned cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (Oppenheimer and Interstellar).

According to Marcus Casey, Chief Marketing Officer of BMW of North America, “you quickly realise that there’s a recipe for success when you think about the perfect Super Bowl ad.” Although it’s not simple, “you have the makings of a hilarious, memorable spot if you start with an exciting new product, an Combine an A-List Hollywood star, a fantastic script, and a gifted crew with the multifaceted Ashley Park and a worldwide phenomenon like USHER.”

BMW produced two teasers for the spot ahead of the big game. In the first, “Agent,” Walken asked his agency a questioning question, “So it’s an ad for an ad?” making fun of the custom of Super Bowl commercial teasers. A second teaser, titled “Singing,” featured Walken driving an electric BMW i5 while listening to USHER’s hit song “Yeah!”, implying the singer’s surprise visit.

Christopher Walken and the BMW 5 Series are iconic

Both Christopher Walken and the BMW 5 Series are iconic. It shows two renowned figures collaborating to create a synergy. “You wait your entire life to create a campaign like this,” GS&P co-founder and co-chair Rich Silverstein continued. Everyone, in actuality, has a Walken impression. However, there is just one original.

In order to get everyone on social media to #TalkinlikeWalken, the campaign will also include social media extensions, such as a TikTok activation that challenges creators to add their own unique touch to a Walken impression.
