Alejandra Rodríguez, the 60-year-old winner of Miss Universe Buenos Aires, says she is thrilled to be a part of the “new paradigm in beauty pageants”.
After winning the Miss Universe beauty competition in Buenos Aires, a sixty-year-old lawyer penned the first chapter in history. Alejandra Rodríguez had to defeat 34 competitors, ranging in age from 18 to 73, in order to win the championship.

Who is Alejandra Rodríguez?
She’s a journalist and lawyer from La Plata. She made the decision to pursue a career in journalism after graduating from college, according to the New York Post. Later, she pursued legal studies and became a legal counsellor at a hospital.
She has dispelled myths and brought about a significant change in the beauty pageant industry.

Why is the victory of Alejandra Rodríguez historic?
The Independent stated that competitors in the past were permitted to be between the ages of 18 and 28 for The Miss Universe competition.
However, the Miss Universe Organisation declared in 2023 that there will be no upper limit for pageant candidates starting in 2024, meaning that anybody over the age of 18 could enter.
She told the press, “I am excited to be a representative of this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are starting a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values.” She continued, “I am the first person in this generation to start with this.”
