The combination of syrup, vanilla ice cream, and crunchy candy pieces in this dessert—which McDonald’s says is reminiscent of “grandma’s favorite treat that she hid in her purse”—was inspired by the magnificent grandmothers.
Although the precise flavors of the candies are unknown, Reddit users surmise that it’s butterscotch, similar to Werther’s Original candies that are frequently connected to grandparents.

To please customers, McDonald’s introduced a variety of McFlurry varieties last year. Although they were only available for a brief time, fans of the beverage enjoyed the strawberry shortcake and peanut butter crunch McFlurry in April and August of 2023, respectively.

Not only is McDonald’s bringing the Grandma McFlurry to every state, but they are also donating to Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, a nonprofit that helps the elderly by providing assistance and companionship.
McDonald’s is providing fans with an additional chance to cherish their grandparents through music in celebration of the limited-edition Grandma McFlurry. Spotify and other music outlets will host the release of two reimagined classics by the fast-food giant on May 21. Both a cover of “Piel Canela” by two-time Latin Grammy nominee Jay Wheeler and a performance of “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” by singer-songwriter Remi Wolf are included in this.

But there’s still more! McDonald’s has introduced Grandma’s McFlurry Mobile, a mobile ice cream shop, to celebrate the arrival of summer. Prior to the new McFlurry’s formal debut in restaurants, this mobile treat will provide a unique first taste. On Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, the McFlurry Mobile will be traveling through New York City, stopping at assisted living facilities and senior centers among other places. On Friday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Grandma’s McFlurry Mobile will be open for visitors in Herald Square.
